چکیده

Defect free MFI type silicalite-1 membranes have been fabricated inside tubular TiO2 ceramic supports to be used for the separation of greenhouse gases. In this work, single gas permeance experiments have been conducted. The results of which in conjunction with adsorption isotherms for each gas investigated have been used to calculate the effective diffusivities of N2, CH4, and CO2. The permeances at 22 °C and 1 atm of pressure differential for He, N2, CO2 and CH4, were found to be 4.38 x 10-7, 7.71 x 10-7, 1.35 x 10-6, and 1.64 x 10-6 mol/m2sPa, respectively, giving permeance ratios for the separation of CH4/N2, CO2/N2, and CH4/CO2 equal to 2.13, 1.75, and 1.22 respectively. These permeance ratios are comparable to those found in other studies reported in the literature, whereas the permeances are typically 1 to 2 orders of magnitude greater than those found in the literature at similar conditions.

The Isolation of Organic Compounds using Organophilic Pervaporation Membranes

Organophilic membranes provide a method of recovering organic compounds by pervaporation, which exploits the selective transport of the organic phase. The main application is in the extraction of bio-alcohols from aqueous solution. The effect of membrane composition on performance in transporting alcohols and not water at improved rates is the focus of this review. In th...

Pebax-Modified Cellulose Acetate Membrane for CO2/N2 Separation

Carbon dioxide (CO2) release from the exhaust gas streams of power plants that burn fossil fuels contributes the most emission of this gas, which includes more than half of the greenhouse effects. Thus, the separation of CO2 from exhaust gases is one of the main environmental concerns. Membrane technology, due to many advantages, has attracted many research attentions among the various gas sepa...

CFD simulation of pervaporation of organic aqueous mixture through silicalite nano-pore zeolite membrane

Nanopore silicalite type membranes were prepared on the outer surface of a porous-mullite tube by in situ liquid phase hydrothermal synthesis. The hydrothermal crystallization was carried out under an autogenously pressure, at a static condition and temperature of 180 °C with tetrapropylammonium bromide (TPABr) as a template agent. The molar composition of the starting gel of silicalite zeolite...

Synthesis and characterization of optically active polyester thin-film bionanocomposite membrane achieved by functionalized cellulose /silica for gas permeation

Optically active bionanocomposite membranes composed of polyester(PE) and cellulose /silica bionanocomposite (BNCs) are a novel method to enhance gas separation performance. Commercially available silica nanoparticles were modified with biodegradable nanocellulose through ultrasonic irradiation technique. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses showed that the cellulose/silica composite...
